Approach cont’d
Stages and Deliverables

Stage 3, Define Business System Options

During this stage, possible groupings of functionality will be considered for implementation together, using a phased approach. Each such grouping of phases will become a Business System Option. Up to three BSOs will be considered and each will comprise:

  • Dataflow Model (logical, unconstrained by ‘how’)
  • Logical Data Model
  • Description of phases
  • Cost Benefit Analysis
  • Organisational impact description

Remember, when we talk of a 'business system', we mean the combination of people's roles, the processes and the IT (and other) systems that support them

Review and sign-off

Review of the document (containing up to three BSOs) will be carried out by contributors (their contribution only), the Project Manager and the Ambassador User.

Authorisation of the document will be provided by:

  • Seenya Cumming, Sales and Marketing Director
  • Juno Howmutsch, Financial Director
  • Kipp Ntali, Senior Accountant
  • Lou Skannon, Sales Operation Manager
  • Pylem High, Ambassador User

Stage 4, Define Technical System Options

There are likely to be a number of different technical solutions to the requirements and up to three TSOs will be considered. Each will be aligned to one or more of the BSOs and each will comprise:

  • Generic description of hardware, software and data environment
  • Business System Option(s) it supports
  • Cost Benefit Analysis

Review and sign-off

Review of the document (containing up to three TSOs) will be carried out by contributors (their contribution only), the Project Manager and the Ambassador User.

Authorisation of the document will be provided by:

  • Mae Kitzo, Managing Director
  • Seenya Cumming, Sales and Marketing Director

During the Feasibility Study a broad-brush approach will be taken to defining the TSOs. Such a TSO may be as simple as specifying an off-the-shelf solution together with the hardware, operating system version and type of network, taking into account expected average and peak transaction volumes.

For example: ACT v3, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Exchange Server 2003 on Dual Core Server with RAID Level 5 and in-built tape streamer for backup purposes, 10Mb Ethernet, Windows Vista and Microsoft Office on Windows Dual Core PCs with 1GB RAM.
