Industrial horizons

This picture of Redcar Steelworks was taken shooting towards the sun, which is visible behind the clouds above the central chimney.

The mood of the picture was enhanced by removing the colour from the photo and then manipulating it as if it were a black and white picture, finally adding the colour back in, albeit somewhat more saturated than originally.

For those who are a little puzzled by the title, it is not a sign of my ignorance of geography. The colours put me in mind of the pictures by William Blake in the Tate Gallery, and the subject of the picture suggested this line from his best-known poem:

“And was Jerusalem builded here, Among those dark Satanic mills?”
