Dartmoor ponies

A closeup of two wild dartmoor ponies, typically barrel-chested, one white with a brown head and one brown all over. They are grazing on Dartmoor, slightly wary of the unwanted attention.

The Dartmoor Pony has a royal connection in relatively modern times (1920s). Prince Edward - who later became Edward VIII - kept and bred Dartmoor ponies. In an attempt to create a better polo pony, he crossed them with Arabs, though the final outcome isn't known.
