Who? Smee!

Something distracts this barn owl's attention - something over the photographer's left shoulder

It constantly turns its head so as to place the source of the sound dead centre of its near-perfect auditory target-spotting system.

With one or two twists, it has identified the exact spot where the rustling or scurrying sounds are coming from - direction and distance. And those eyes can pinpoint a movement at a distance around eight times better than you or I. Pity the poor mouse!
