Encroaching vines

What's going on here? Are these vines strangling the fabric of the building with their luxurious growth? Are these a genetically modifed and mutated species?

Actually, the truth is much less fantastic - the company that manufactured these inflatable vines were ensuring they worked ok and your photographer happpened to be in the right place at the right time.
