Liffy

As the river Liffy passes through Dublin, it spends a good deal of time constrained by the man-made canals that used to form the viens of the thriving and growing city.

The central lifeblood - the trade goods and raw materials for this centre of commerce once transported by the waterways have been replaced by drifting carrier bags and old shopping trolleys.

More recently sections have been cleaned up and the fish and wildlife are returning. With their overhanging weeping willows and tranquil reflections they are becoming places of serenity, often known only to the locals and beside which many lunchtime sandwiches are consumed.
