Pride of place

This bronze statue of Sir Francis Drake occcupies the centre of the Hoe promenade.

Drake surveys the sea, with Plymouth city centre at his back, not far from the spot where he famously played bowls as the Spanish Armada advanced, finshing the game before sending them on their way.
