Cannon

This mid 17th century Spanish or Portuguese cannon, cast by Javanese at Macao in 1652 was captured from a Chinese War Junk by the Honourable East India Company Steamer Nemesis under the command of Captain W H Hall in 1841

A visitor, Armando C., gave me the following update:

It is a cannon made in Macao by Manoel Tavares Bocarro, portuguese, son of Pedro Dias Bocarro master of Goa foundries. Bocarro went to Macao in 1625 and made bronze and iron cannons till about 1655. The copper used came from Japan and China. This gun was offered to China by Macao's Senate and was in a Boca Tigris fortress till the Opium War, when it was taken by British.
