The exquisite lighting conditions caused by dark storm clouds rolling in while the castle and round tower bask in the early evening sun, reflect the story of Windsor Castle's chequered past. From early stronghold to modern day tourist attraction (and the Queen's preferred residence) the castle has always been a place in which the kings and queens of England, and their noblemen and women, live, die and are buried.
