Merry Gnomon

An unusual juxtaposition in light. Taken in the run up to Christmas, the gnomon from Plymouth City Centre's massive sundial protrudes from the right of the picture, its highly polished metal surface reflecting the rich colours cast by the merry-go-round and assorted Christmas lights. The circular nature of the merry-go-round fits in well with the gnomon, implying, possibly, the passing of time and, perhaps more poignantly, the passing of childhood.
