Linear non-motion

This photo was taken very early morning on the M5 heading towards Bristol from the south.

The mists were rising with the sun; the tops of trees and a church spire are poking through. The layering effect, taken together with parallel lines of the roadside markings, central reservation crash barrier, grass strip, clouds - even the landscape, gave a surreal sense of suspended motion from within the car.
